Introducing "Battle of Stats": multiplayer strategy card game.

What happens when Cricket, Cards, Strategy and Multiplayer meet? We are excited to release a new game called Battle of Stats. A multiplayer card game based on IPL statistics(Till IPL 8).

It has a simple game play:
Game is played between 2 players.
Each player gets 7 cards.
Each card has 4 stats.
There are 7 turns. Each turn, a stat is randomly decided. Each player has to select a card.
Card with better stat gets a point. Player with more points at the end wins the game.

Tips and Tricks for Battle of Stats

You have come here because you liked the game and want to learn more. While we discuss a few strategies here, have your own strategies and be unpredictable.

Google play link for the game: Battle of Stats.

Rule #1:
All stats are based on the overall statistics of IPL till IPL 8. We do not publish the cards that are available but the information is easily available. Having a grip over the stats is really the first rule in mastering Battle of Stats.

Rule #2:
Learning how the cards are distributed to each player is the secret for mastering and devising your own strategies. While we keep the algorithm secret, there are some basic rules that I talk here. You have to find others through experience and keen observation.

There are three types of cards. Platinum, Gold and Silver. Each player gets 1 platinum, 3 gold and 3 silver cards.

Platinum cards are the best in their respective stats. Suresh Raina in runs, Andre Russel in strike rate, Gautam Gambhir in fifties, Chris Gayle in Sixes. So every game, 2 cards out of the 4 platinum cards are distributed.

Rule #3:
Do not base your strategy based on Single player games. Multiplayer has more number of cards available and cards distribution logic is different.

Beginner Strategy:
The most basic strategy is the strategy used by Single Player Medium level. Simply select the best card among available cards for the given stat. Most beginners start with this strategy and slowly move on to others.

Tips:
Tip#1:
Know who are strong in which stats and use them for those stats only. For example, Gambhir is 1st in fifties but 5th in runs. So using him for fifties always guarantees a point but runs is a gamble. Kohli is 4th in runs but 7th in Sixes and Fifties. While using Kohli for runs is preferable, there are situations that demand something else.

Tip#2:
Learning the opponent's platinum card is very important in optimizing your points. A few players have sacrificed cards just to learn the opponent's platinum cards.

Tip#3:
Know when to sacrifice a silver card and when to drop a gold card. If you suspect your opponent having a better card then it is better to sacrifice.

Tip#4:
Knowing the opponent's platinum card is important. So delaying your platinum card will be useful too. Keep your opponent guessing!!

Tip#5:
There are 4 stats and 7 turns. So one of the stat will only be played once so be ready for it. You have to think about whether holding back your platinum card or drop it the first time the stat is played. If the stat does not come twice, have an alternative plan. It is particularly important in case of Strike Rate, since Russel is only good in strike rate.

Tip#6:
There is 1 platinum card, 3 gold cards and 3 silver cards. You have to score 4 points to win so you should plan to get points from your platinum and gold cards. Results become unpredictable if your gold cards go against opponent's gold cards. And it helps if you drop your platinum card when your opponent drops a gold card (1 less gold card to compete with!)

We have just scratched the surface. There are many others too. If you have any tips that would like to share, we will be happy publish here. Share it in comments.

Best Wishes,
Fanzy & Battle of Stats team

How Points System works (Updated)

Fanzy Fantasy Cricket for IPL is in full swing and Gamers have shown surprise in how the points system works & some have denounced the game saying there are no well defined rules!!

In fact, Scoring Engine in #FanzyCricket is very well defined(with provisions to be unpredictable at times!!) and has worked very well for us across all formats for us for well over a year.

Let us talk about T20 points as it is the season of the IPL.
Batting score:
Total points batsmen can score is 240 + any bonus points. (Information about bonus points here: http://www.fanzy.in/static_pages/how)

Let us take a few examples.
Example 1:
KKR: 120/4(20 overs), RCB: 120/6(20 overs)
For simplicity sake, no extras and every one has strike rate of 100% (exactly 1 run for 1 ball).
Fanzy Score for each batsmen will be exactly same as the runs he scores. (Plus bonus score for Sixes and milestone score) (Because Total Runs is 240 = Total Fanzy Score for Batsmen 240)

Example 2:
MI: 180/3(20 overs), KXIP: 180/1(20 overs)
For simplicity sake, no extras and every one has strike rate of 150% (3 runs in 2 balls) which is the strike rate of both the teams as well.
Now, Fanzy Score for each batsmen will be equal to his Runs/1.5
So if Maxwell scores 45 runs in 30 balls, his Fanzy score will be 45/1.5 = 30 + 5 (milestone bonus)

In the same way if both teams score 240 runs fanzy score will be half the number of runs if player also scores 20 runs in 10 balls.

Now, not every player scores at the same strike rate as the overall match strike rate and this is where things get a little interesting.

Now let us take the 1st example again.
KKR: 120/4(20 overs), RCB: 120/6(20 overs)
If Kohli scores 20 runs in 10 balls, he has scored at 200% strike rate which means he is twice as fast as everyone else so he will get a score of 40 now.

If Kallis scores 10 runs in 20 balls, he has 50% strike rate so his score will be 5.

Finally let's say Rohit Sharma scored 30 runs in 20 balls in two matches given in the examples above.
In the first, bowling pitch with very low scores (KKR: 120/4(20 overs), MI: 120/6(20 overs)), (Extremely good performance compared to everyone else) his Fanzy Score will be around 45.
In 2nd match, batting pitch with high scores (MI: 180/3(20 overs), KXIP: 180/1(20 overs)), (at par performance with everyone else) his Fanzy Score will be around 20.

Best performances in Champions League: From Fantasy perspective!! (from Fanzy.in)

Fanzy.in is a Fantasy cricket game where relative performances of Cricket players matter with no fixed scoring rules. Ideal to measure performances!!

Best batting performance in a match:
Quinton de Kock, Batting fantasy score: 134, 14th match, Lions v Otago
Batting stats: 109 runs in 63 balls including 5 sixes!!
Unfortunately was not a match winning performance. (Otago won the match in the Super over and James Neesham was the man of the match)

Best bowling performance in a match:
Sunil Narine, Bowling fantasy score: 138, 7th Match, T&T v Sunrisers Hyderabad
Bowling stats: 4-1-9-4 (conceded 9 runs in 4 overs with 4 wickets and a maiden)
This was not a match winning performance too!! While Sunil Narine was outstanding, there was no support from other bowlers and Sunrisers Hyderabad comfortably chased 160 with Thisara Perera's match winning performance.

Best overall performance in a match:
Lendl Simmons, Fantasy score: 177, 20th Match, CSK vs T&T
Batting stats: 63 in 41 balls with 4 sixes.
Bowling stats: 2-0-10-2 (conceded 10 runs in 2 overs with 2 wickets)
In a pitch with low bounce and scoring being difficult, Simmons excelled with both bat and ball in one of the most one sided match of the tournament.

Best batsman of the tournament:
Ajinkya Rahane: Batting fantasy score: 288, Rajasthan Royals
With Fantasy scores of 49, 70, 48, 87, 3 and 34, Ajinkya Rahane was easily one of the most reliable batsman of the tournament and his popularity reflected among Fanzy gamers too with being the second most expensive Cricketer for Rajasthan in the finals.

Best bowler of the tournament:
Sunil Narine: Bowling fantasy score: 337, Trinidad & Tobago
Sunil Narine again!! With Fantasy scores of 86, 36, 62, 138 and 34, Sunil Narine was the best bowler and was the one of the most popular player too. Sunil Narine was the most expensive player for T&T.

Most impactful player of the tournament:
Pravine Tambe!! Fantasy score: 378, Rajasthan Royals
What a tournament it has been for one of the oldest players playing Champions League!! While Sunil Narine takes the honor of the best bowler, Tambe was closely matched with 322 Bowling points. But two man of the match performances meant Tambe moving ahead.

Some stats to ponder over:
Sunil Narine(337 bowling score) and Pravin Tambe(322 bowling score) were the best bowlers of the tournament and far ahead of the others. Next comes Nathan Coulter-Nile from MI with fantasy score of 171.

Finally, Fantasy team of the tournament: (without regards to the combination!! It's fantasy perspective)
Pravin Tambe (Fantasy Score: 378), Rajasthan Royals
Sunil Narine (Fantasy Score: 356), T&T
Suresh Raina (346), CSK
Dwayne Smith (315), MI
Henry Davids (302), Titans
Ajinkya Rahane (291), RR
Lendl Simmons (265), T&T
Evin Lewis (258), T&T
Kieron Pollard (243), MI
Rohit Sharma (222), MI
Sanju Samson (222), RR

12th man: R Ashwin (220), CSK

Brendon Taylor more than Virat Kohli?

For 2nd ODI between India and Zimbabwe, You might have noticed Zimbabwe's Brendon Taylor at 7.75 lakhs compared to India's most popular player Kohli, at 7.5 lakhs and be surprised. It is not just the Zimbabwe's Captain, many players are above some of the best Indian players.

That is because Fansy considers relative popularity of players among their team members in calculating the salary. Kohli might be very popular overall, but within Zimbabwe's team, Brendon Taylor is very popular and that is what matters when deciding the Salary.

Finally, Salary according to popularity among Gamers. Salary according to popularity of players relative to other players in the team. That is how salaries are calculated from match to match.
